Baseball Game Preview: Lincoln Tigers vs. WISH Academy Owls

The Lincoln Tigers will face off against the WISH Academy Owls at 3:00 p.m. on Thursday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, these teams will really light up the scoreboard.

Lincoln is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Tuesday. They were the clear victors by a 19-2 margin over Jordan. The win was some much needed relief for the Tigers as it spelled an end to their ten-game losing streak.

Meanwhile, WISH Academy waltzed into their matchup on Friday with four straight wins... but they left with five. They came out on top against the Cougars by a score of 18-13.

Jacob Ortega made a splash while hitting and pitching. He struck out eight batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off three hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in five consecutive appearances. He was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with four stolen bases, three runs, and three RBI. Those three runs gave him a new career-high.

In other batting news, WISH Academy got a massive performance out of Glory Udeozor, who went 2-for-4 with five stolen bases, three runs, and two RBI. Udeozor has been hot, having posted two or more stolen bases the last eight times he's played. Oliver Horton was another key player, going 3-for-5 with five stolen bases, three runs, and two RBI.

Lincoln's victory bumped their record up to 4-13. As for WISH Academy, their win bumped their record up to 14-5.
