Softball Recap: Garey Comes Up Short

The Garey Vikings lost 12-4 to the Yucca Valley Trojans on Wednesday. The Vikings have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Emily Melendez put in work while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she tossed three innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off two hits. Melendez was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-3.

Melendez wasn't the only one making solid contact as three players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Valerie Jimenez, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with two RBI.

Garey's loss dropped their record down to 3-5. As for Yucca Valley, they are on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six games. That's provided a nice bump to their 6-5 record this season.

Garey has already played their next match, a 7-4 win against Montclair on the 17th. As for Yucca Valley, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next contest, a 25-7 victory against Xavier Prep on the 17th.
