Softball Game Preview: San Marcos Knights vs. Steele Canyon Cougars

The San Marcos Knights will take on the Steele Canyon Cougars at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. San Marcos is coming into the game on a three-game losing streak.

San Marcos heads in on the heels of a playoff match on Wednesday. They fell just short of El Capitan by a score of 4-3.

San Marcos saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Emma Royko, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with one run.

Meanwhile, Steele Canyon didn't have quite enough to beat Eastlake on Wednesday and fell 3-2. The loss continues a trend for the Cougars in their meetings with the Titans: they've now lost three in a row.

Ily Barclay was cooking despite her team's loss, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one double. She is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games she's played.

San Marcos' defeat dropped their record down to 15-14. As for Steele Canyon, their loss dropped their record down to 16-13-1.

San Marcos was able to grind out a solid win over Steele Canyon when the teams last played back in May of 2019, winning 6-2. Do the Knights have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Cougars turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
