Softball Recap: Dover Beats Madison Comprehensive for Their Fifth Straight Win

Dover had already won four in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 7.5 runs) and they went ahead and made it five on Thursday. Everything went their way against the Madison Comprehensive Rams as they made off with a 16-3 win. Considering the Crimson Tornadoes have won ten contests by more than five runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.

Kara Lint looked comfortable as she struck out nine batters over four innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits (and only one walk). That's the most strikeouts she has posted over her last four matches.

On the hitting side, Dover got a massive performance out of Avery Contini, who went 2-for-4 with one home run, five RBI, and two runs. Those five RBI gave Contini a new career-high. Charlie Reese was another key player, going 4-for-5 with four runs, two stolen bases, and one RBI.

Dover pushed their record up to 21-3 with the victory, which was their third straight on the road. The road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 13.7 runs over those games. As for Madison Comprehensive, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 16-4.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Dover will take on West Branch at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. The Crimson Tornadoes' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Warriors have averaged an impressive 7.2 runs per game this season. As for Madison Comprehensive, they will challenge Mt. Vernon at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday.
