Soccer Recap: Independence Comes Up Short

Independence lost against Porter Ridge back in February of 2024, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. The Patriots fell just short of the Pirates by a score of 2-1. While losing is never fun, Independence can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina soccer rankings (they are ranked 316th, while Porter Ridge are ranked 110th).

Independence's goal came courtesy of Makayla Tindall, who's now up to seven this season.

Independence's defeat was their third straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 2-6. As for Porter Ridge, their win bumped their record up to 6-3-4.

Independence wasted no time getting back out on the pitch and has already played their next contest, a 9-0 loss against Charlotte Catholic on the 1st. As for Porter Ridge, they also didn't take long to hit the pitch again: they've already played their next matchup, a 2-0 victory against Central Academy on the 28th.
