Recap: Mohawk Area Warriors vs. Western Beaver Golden Beavers
The Mohawk Area Warriors had already won seven in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 27.7 points), and they went ahead and made it eight on Friday. They walked away with a 31-21 win over Western Beaver. That result was just more of the same for these two, as Mohawk Area also won the last time the pair played back in October of 2022.
Mohawk Area's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Justin Boston led the charge by rushing for 184 yards and a touchdown. Jay Wrona was another key contributor, throwing for 94 yards and two touchdowns.
Mohawk Area's win was their fourth straight at home, bumping their overall record up to 8-1. That said, the team wasn't facing the toughest opposition over that stretch, as it included 0-9 New Brighton and 3-6 Laurel (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 36.1% over those games). As for Western Beaver, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-4.
Mohawk Area will head out on the road to face off against Neshannock at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Neshannock has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 176 points over their last four games. As for Western Beaver, they will be playing at home against Beaver Falls at 12:30 p.m. on Saturday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Pennsylvania (Beaver Falls is ranked 257th, while Western Beaver is ranked 266th).
