Softball Recap: Riverdale Continues Home Dominance on Friday

Riverdale barely beat Princeton the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Rams blew past the Tigers 12-2 on Friday. The Rams haven't had any issues with the Tigers recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive victory against them.

Brie DeBlaey spent all six innings played on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned runs on six hits and racked up eight Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Brooklyn Peterson, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and one double. Those four hits gave her a new career-high. Claire Beeler was another key player, going a perfect 3-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and one double.

Riverdale hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team has now struck out at least three batters in five consecutive contests.

Riverdale pushed their record up to 15-3 with the win, which was their fourth straight at home. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.3 runs on average over those games. As for Princeton, they now have a losing record of 6-7.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Riverdale will head out to challenge Rockridge at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. The Rockets will roll in looking for their seventh straight win, something the Rams surely won't give up without a fight. As for Princeton, they will venture away from home to take on Seneca at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. The Fighting Irish will roll in looking for their 18th straight victory, something the Tigers surely won't give up without a fight.
