Basketball Recap: Simi Valley Takes Loss Despite Strong Efforts from Trevor Hiscocks and Andrew Oglivie

Simi Valley was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They fell 58-46 to the Murrieta Mesa Rams.

Simi Valley's loss came despite strong showings from Andrew Oglivie and Trevor Hiscocks. Oglivie went 5 for 9 on his way to 10 points in addition to six rebounds and three steals, while Hiscocks posted six points in addition to nine boards and seven assists. Hiscocks is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last seven games he's played. Another player making a difference was Joaquin Cunanan, who put up six points.

Murrieta Mesa got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Luke Siefkin out in front who went 7 of 12 on his way to 15 points and four steals. The dominant performance gave Siefkin a new career-high in points. The team also got some help courtesy of Jaden Merritt, who had ten points in addition to eight blocks and seven boards.

Simi Valley's loss dropped their record down to 6-9. As for Murrieta Mesa, they moved to 6-11 with that win, which also ended their four-game losing streak.

Simi Valley didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 58-56 defeat against Schurr on the 30th. As for Murrieta Mesa, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next match, a 69-52 victory against West Valley on the 30th.
