Softball Game Preview: SouthWest Edgecombe Cougars vs. West Craven Eagles

For the second straight game, SouthWest Edgecombe will face off against West Craven. The Cougars will look to defend their home field on Thursday against the Eagles at 7:00 p.m. SouthWest Edgecombe is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 9.3 runs per game this season.

Mackenzie Rogers made a splash no matter where she played. She struck out 11 batters over five innings while giving up just one earned run off six hits (and not a single walk). She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in ten consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs, one stolen base, and one double.

In other batting news, Mackenzie Moore was incredible, going 2-for-4 with five RBI, two doubles, and one stolen base. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in March. Victoria Pierce was another key player, going a perfect 1-for-1 with two RBI and one run.

SouthWest Edgecombe always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .562. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as West Craven only posted an OBP of .273.

SouthWest Edgecombe's victory was their sixth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 12-5.
