Basketball Recap: Cedar Ridge Takes Loss Despite Strong Efforts from Jack Kelsey and Jordan Jacobson

Cedar Ridge was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their seventh straight defeat. They came up short against the Orange Panthers, falling 63-41. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Fighting Red Wolves of the 68-42 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in February of 2024.

Cedar Ridge's loss came despite strong showings from Jordan Jacobson and Jack Kelsey. Jacobson posted 16 points along with five rebounds and four steals, while Kelsey had six points in addition to eight rebounds and five blocks. That was a full 39% of Cedar Ridge's points, marking the third time in a row he's put up more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Braeden Wilbourn, who posted eight points and three steals.

Orange's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Kai Wade, who had 12 points along with six assists and five steals. Wade is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last eight games he's played. Michael Clark was another key player, going 5 of 7 on his way to 14 points and five boards.

Cedar Ridge's defeat dropped their record down to 5-9. As for Orange, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 11-4.

Cedar Ridge wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 56-41 loss against Chatham Central on the 8th. As for Orange, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 67-65 win against Person on the 9th.
