Basketball Recap: Malcolm Piles Up the Points Against Raymond Central

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Malcolm). They simply couldn't be stopped on Tuesday as they easily beat the Raymond Central Mustangs 61-13. The matchup was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 40-5.

Malcolm's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Brixon Meyer led the charge by putting up nine points along with five assists and five rebounds. Thanks to that strong game, Meyer now owns an excellent 50% field goal percentage. Another player making a difference was Preston Kucera, who shot 50% from the field on his way to 12 points.

They weren't the only ones working in the assist department: Malcolm was working as a unit and finished the game with 18 assists. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their assist total in three consecutive games.

Malcolm's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 3-1. The home wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 52.7 points over those games. As for Raymond Central, they are on a six-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-5.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming contests. Malcolm will venture away from home to take on Platteview at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Clippers' defense better be ready for this one: the Trojans have averaged an impressive 54.2 points per game this season. As for Raymond Central, they will head out on the road to face off against Douglas County West at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday.
