Volleyball Recap: Green Valley Comes Up Short in High-Profile Game with Centennial

Green Valley faced Centennial in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Thursday. The Gators took a 3-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Bulldogs. The Gators were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Bulldogs earlier this season, when they won 3-1.

Green Valley came incredibly close to winning: the sets they lost were decided by three points or less. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 28-26, 25-22, 25-27, 25-22.

David Davila paced Green Valley's offense, picking up eight kills. Davila got some help from Jeremiah Nissley and his 19 assists. Finally, Nissley was also a dominant defender, finishing with a team-high five blocks.

Josh Wagner had a dynamite game For Centennial., getting 21 digs and three aces. That's the most aces Wagner has posted since back in March.

Green Valley's loss dropped their record down to 16-19. As for Centennial, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 25-9.

Coming up, Green Valley will challenge Arbor View at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Centennial, they will take on Palo Verde at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
