Softball Recap: South Brunswick Extends Road Winning Streak to Four

South Brunswick posted their closest win since March 11th on Tuesday. They had just enough and edged out the Topsail Pirates 2-0. The Cougars haven't had any issues with the Pirates recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive victory against them.

Kina Davis made a splash no matter where she played. She kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out 17 over seven innings pitched. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than two walks any time she's pitched this season. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with one RBI. That's the most hits she has posted since back in May of 2024.

Davis wasn't the only one making solid contact as three players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Savana Burgess, who went 1-for-3 with one run.

South Brunswick pushed their record up to 13-2 with the win, which was their fourth straight on the road. Those road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.8 runs on average over those games. As for Topsail, with the defeat, they broke their four-game winning streak and moved their record to 8-7.

South Brunswick wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next match, a 10-0 win against North Brunswick on the 17th. As for Topsail, they have also already played their next game, a 6-3 victory against West Brunswick on the 17th.
