Basketball Recap: Annabelle Tobin's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Ursuline Academy over John Paul II

Ursuline Academy was the 61-55 winner over John Paul II when they last played one another back in January of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. The Ursuline Academy Bears took a 60-53 hit to the loss column at the hands of the John Paul II Cardinals on Monday. The Bears just can't catch a break and have now endured three defeats in a row.

Several Bears players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Annabelle Tobin, who went 8 for 20 on her way to 21 points and six rebounds. That was a full 39.6% of Ursuline Academy's points, marking the third time in a row she's posted more than a third of the team's points. Lucy Devlin was another key player, putting up 15 points in addition to eight boards and five assists.

Even though they lost, Ursuline Academy was working as a unit and finished the game with 18 assists. That's the most assists they've posted since back in January of 2024.

Ursuline Academy's loss dropped their record down to 10-13. As for John Paul II, they moved to 12-13 with that victory, which also ended their four-game losing streak.

The Bears didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 59-38 win against the Bears on the 17th. As for John Paul II, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next match, a 72-68 defeat against Prestonwood Christian on the 14th.
