Baseball Recap: Ashley Screaming Eagle vs. Swansboro Pirates

On Tuesday, the Ashley Screaming Eagle got the win against the Swansboro Pirates by a conclusive 10-1. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Screaming Eagle.

Will Hartzell made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. What's more, he gave up only zero earned runs, the fewest he's had since back in May of 2024. He was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with one triple, one run, and one RBI.

In other pitching news, Jackson Lee looked comfortable as he struck out six batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. Furthermore, he didn't allow a single earned run, the first time he has blanked an opponent since back in May of 2024.

Back at the plate, Quinn Bentley was incredible, scoring three runs and stealing Two bases. while going 3-for-4. That's the most stolen bases he has posted since back in April of 2024. Another player making a difference was Drew Potter, who scored a run and stole a base while getting on base in three of his five plate appearances.

Ashley was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .375. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Swansboro only posted a batting average of .136.

Ashley's record is now 2-0. As for Swansboro, their loss dropped their record down to 1-1.

Coming up, Ashley will host Wake County HomeSchool at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Swansboro, they will venture away from home to challenge Laney at 6:30 p.m. on Friday.
