Baseball Recap: Santa Clara Comes Up Short

Santa Clara was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They lost 13-6 to the Fillmore Flashes. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Flashes this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 14-3 last Wednesday.

Santa Clara saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Lucas Mendez, who went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, three RBI, and two runs.

Santa Clara's record now sits at 0-3. As for Fillmore, their victory ended a nine-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 2-3.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Santa Clara will square off against Carpinteria at 3:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Fillmore, they will take on Pacifica at 3:00 p.m. on Friday. Fillmore is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.2 runs per game this season.
