Basketball Recap: Prairie Central's Losing Streak Snapped at Three Games

Prairie Central needed a changed in momentum after dropping three straight games and they got it from Jayla Hammond. The Prairie Central Hawks were the clear victor by a 52-27 margin over the Newark Norsemen on Saturday thanks in part to Hammond, who almost dropped a double-double on 16 points and nine boards. Those nine rebounds gave her a new career-high.

Prairie Central's victory bumped their record up to 4-11. As for Newark, they are on a ten-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 0-10.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Prairie Central will get to enjoy the win for a while: their next game is against St. Thomas More at 7:00 p.m. on January 6, 2025. Prairie Central has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games. Newark will also get a bit of a break before their next game: they'll face off against Manteno at 7:00 p.m. on January 6, 2025.
