Baseball Recap: Botkins Takes a Loss

Botkins easily dispatched Cory-Rawson on Wednesday, but unfortunately both the margin and the ultimate result were a different story in this one. The Trojans fell just short of the Jackson Center Tigers by a score of 6-4 on Thursday. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest defeat the Trojans have suffered since April 19, 2024.

Will Monnin made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one double. He has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times he's played. Elijah Schuller was another key player, going 2-for-4 with one run and one RBI.

Botkins' loss dropped their record down to 7-9. As for Jackson Center, their victory ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 6-9.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Botkins will face off against Bradford at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Jackson Center, they will challenge Troy Christian at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. The Eagles' pitching crew has only allowed 3.9 runs per game this season, so the Tigers' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
