Basketball Game Preview: Twinsburg Tigers vs. Highland Hornets

The Twinsburg Tigers will challenge the Highland Hornets at 12:00 p.m. on Sunday. Both teams are coming into the match red-hot, with Twinsburg sitting on four straight wins and Highland on 21.

Last Wednesday, Twinsburg narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past Cuyahoga Falls 39-36. Given the Tigers' advantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 70th, while the Black Tigers are ranked 272nd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Twinsburg found their leader in sophomore Jaci Hutton, who almost dropped a double-double on 11 points and nine rebounds. Those nine boards gave Hutton a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Taylor Dye, who posted ten points and three steals.

Meanwhile, Highland made easy work of Berea-Midpark on Monday and carried off a 71-50 win. The Hornets have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 11 games by 20 points or more this season.

Highland pushed their record up to 21-0 with the victory, which was their 12th straight at home dating back to last season. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 59.2 points over those games. As for Twinsburg, their win bumped their record up to 14-5.

Twinsburg came up short against Highland when the teams last played back in November of 2021, falling 43-34. Can Twinsburg avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
