The Stoneman Douglas Eagles will square off against the Western Wildcats at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Both come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Fans were treated to a Battle of the Eagles on Tuesday. Stoneman Douglas came out on top against North Broward Prep by a score of 6-2. Stoneman Douglas hasn't had any issues with North Broward Prep recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive victory against them.
Gio Rojas looked comfortable as he struck out 11 batters over four innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off three hits (and only one walk). That's the most strikeouts he has posted since back in February of 2024.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Michael Ossenfort, who went 3-for-4 with four RBI and one double. The dominant performance gave him a new career-high in RBI. Another player making a difference was Bennett Gary, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-3.
Meanwhile, Western put another one in the bag on Tuesday to keep their perfect season alive. They walked away with a 7-3 win over Flanagan.
Zach Beyra looked comfortable as he didn't allow a single earned run while striking out six over four innings pitched.
On the hitting side, Taisuky Rodriguez was excellent, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-4. He also hit a double, marking his first of the season. Gavin Andreu was another key player, scoring a run while going 1-for-2.
Stoneman Douglas pushed their record up to 2-1 with the victory, which was their fourth straight on the road dating back to last season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.3 runs over those games. As for Western, their win bumped their record up to 4-0.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Thursday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Stoneman Douglas has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 9.7 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Western struggles in that department as they've been averaging 8.5 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
Stoneman Douglas took their victory against Western in their previous matchup back in March of 2023 by a conclusive 11-0. Will Stoneman Douglas repeat their success, or does Western have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
