Basketball Game Preview: Austin Eagles vs. Providence Pioneers

Austin hasn't had much luck against Providence recently, but that could start to change on Thursday. The Austin Eagles are taking a road trip to challenge the Providence Pioneers at 7:30 p.m. Both come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Austin will bounce into Thursday's contest after beating Salem, who they had gone 2-7 against in their nine prior meetings. Austin walked away with a 60-51 win over Salem on Friday. The score was all tied up 24-24 at the break, but the Eagles were the better team in the second half.

Meanwhile, Providence entered their tilt with Christian Academy on Friday with three consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with four. In a tight game that could have gone either way, they made off with a 45-44 victory over the Warriors.

Austin has also been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matches, which provided a massive bump to their 7-9 record this season. As for Providence, their record now sits at 12-2.

Austin was taken down by Providence 66-31 in their previous meeting back in March of 2024. Can Austin avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
