Basketball Recap: Tri-Cities Wins High-Profile Match Against Woodward Academy

On Tuesday, Tri-Cities faced Woodward Academy in a battle between two of the state's top teams. The Tri-Cities Bulldogs managed a 74-69 victory over the Woodward Academy War Eagles. The win was nothing new for the Bulldogs as they're now sitting on three straight.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Tri-Cities to victory, but perhaps none more so than Tre Keith, who went 10 for 18 on his way to 31 points in addition to eight boards and seven assists. That's the most points Keith has posted since back in February of 2024. Another player making a difference was Sean Vandorn, who dropped a double-double on 20 points and ten rebounds.

Keith wasn't the only one working in the assists department: Tri-Cities was working as a unit and finished the game with 23 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Woodward Academy only posted 11 assists.

Woodward Academy's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Zachary Foster, who went 9 of 17 en route to 24 points along with eight boards and four steals. The contest was Foster's fourth in a row with at least ten points. Jarvis Hayes Jr. was another key player, going 5 for 11 on his way to 13 points and eight rebounds.

Tri-Cities pushed their record up to 16-4 with the victory, which was their ninth straight at home. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 80.2 points per game. As for Woodward Academy, they moved to 17-4 with that defeat, which also ended their eight-game winning streak.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Tri-Cities will square off against Lakeside at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Woodward Academy, they will take on Dunwoody at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in Woodward Academy's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points every time they've taken the court this season.
