Basketball Game Preview: Steinbrenner Warriors vs. Mitchell Mustangs

Two dominant guards in Naomi Parker and Kaylana Little are getting ready to go toe-to-toe. The Steinbrenner Warriors will take on the Mitchell Mustangs at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Steinbrenner is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 66.8 points per game this season.

Steinbrenner heads in on the heels of a playoff matchup on Saturday. They fell 60-51 to Sickles.

Despite the loss, Steinbrenner had strong showings from Avery Adams, who posted 14 points and six steals, and Parker, who scored 14 points and six boards. What's more, Adams also racked up four rebounds, the most she's had since back in November of 2024. Sarah Coble was another key player, putting up five points and 13 boards.

Even though they lost, Steinbrenner smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 12 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 12 offensive boards in four consecutive contests.

Meanwhile, Mitchell didn't have quite enough to beat Sunlake on Saturday and fell 63-61. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game on Thursday (59), the Mustangs still had to take the loss.

Steinbrenner's defeat dropped their record down to 23-3. As for Mitchell, their loss dropped their record down to 20-7.

Steinbrenner was able to grind out a solid victory over Mitchell in their previous meeting back in November of 2023, winning 56-43. Will Steinbrenner repeat their success, or does Mitchell have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
