Basketball Game Preview: Morgan Township Cherokees vs. Christian Academy Warriors

The Morgan Township Cherokees will square off against the Christian Academy Warriors at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday. Morgan Township will come in still looking for their first win of the season.

Morgan Township is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They fell just short of Highland by a score of 56-53 on Tuesday. While losing is never fun, the Cherokees can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Indiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 60th, while the Trojans are ranked 15th).

Despite their defeat, Morgan Township saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Aidan Johnson, who went 5 for 8 on his way to 13 points and five steals, was perhaps the best of all. The dominant performance gave Johnson a new career-high in steals. Cal Lemmons was another key player, almost dropping a double-double on 11 points and nine rebounds.

Even though they lost, Morgan Township smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with ten offensive boards. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their offensive rebound total in four consecutive contests.

Meanwhile, Christian Academy's undefeated season came to an end after four games on Friday. They were just a bucket shy of victory and fell 56-55 to Rock Creek Academy. The game marked the Warriors' lowest-scoring matchup so far this season.

Morgan Township's loss dropped their record down to 0-5. As for Christian Academy, their defeat was their first of the season and makes their record 4-1.
