Softball Recap: Grainger Has No Trouble Against Cumberland Gap

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Grainger). They put the hurt on the Cumberland Gap Panthers with a sharp 15-9 victory on Monday. The win continues a trend for the Grizzlies in their matchups with the Panthers: they've now won eight in a row.

Amanda Kledzik was a standout: she went 3-for-4 with two runs, two doubles, and one triple. Those two doubles gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Kaylee Sturgill, who scored a run and stole a base while going 4-for-5.

Grainger's victory bumped their record up to 3-1. As for Cumberland Gap, they dropped their record down to 0-3 with the defeat, which was their sixth straight at home dating back to last season.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Grainger will take on Jefferson County at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Jefferson County is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.5 runs per game this season. As for Cumberland Gap, they will challenge Claiborne at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
