Softball Recap: Albuquerque Academy Chargers vs. Grants Pirates
Albuquerque Academy got themselves on the board against Grants on Thursday, but Grants never followed suit. They were the clear victors by a 10-0 margin over the Pirates. The Chargers not only won on Thursday, but they posted their biggest win since March 14th.

Melissa Purcella was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She didn't allow a single earned run while striking out 15 over six innings pitched. That's the most strikeouts she has posted since back in April of 2024. She was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring three runs while going 2-for-3.
In other batting news, Callia Jesurun was excellent, scoring two runs while going 1-for-3. Another player making a difference was Sydney Koranyi, who scored two runs while going 2-for-4.
Albuquerque Academy kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Grants only managed three hits.
With the victory, Albuquerque Academy broke their three-game losing streak and moved their record to 6-7. As for Grants, their defeat ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 3-5.
Looking ahead, Albuquerque Academy will take on Valley at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Grants, they will head out to take on Valencia at 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Grants is facing Valencia at the right time seeing as Valencia is stuck on a four-game losing streak.
