Basketball Recap: Isabella Cosme Key Part of a Team Effort in Pioneers Win

After losing to King's Christian the last time they met, The Pilgrim Academy decided to demonstrate that turnabout is fair play. The Pilgrim Academy Pioneers secured a 28-24 W over the King's Christian Knights on Tuesday.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead The Pilgrim Academy to victory, but perhaps none more so than Isabella Cosme, who posted six points and eight rebounds. That's the most boards Cosme has posted since back in February of 2024. Another player making a difference was Addison Brittin, who had nine points and four steals.

Despite the defeat, King's Christian had strong showings from Lily Welsh, who went 6 of 10 on her way to 13 points, and Angelina Alicea, who put up four points in addition to 11 boards and three steals. Welsh has been hot, having also posted two or more steals the last six times she's played.

The Pilgrim Academy's win bumped their record up to 2-3. As for King's Christian, their loss ended a five-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 3-6.

The Pilgrim Academy will face off against Pinelands Regional at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for King's Christian, they will square off against Atlantic Christian at 5:30 p.m. on Friday.
