Kings Mountain had already won four in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 11.8 runs) and they went ahead and made it five on Tuesday. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the South Point Red Raiders a 6-0 shutout. That's more bragging rights for the Mountaineers, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Maddie Huffman made a big impact no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run while striking out 17 over seven innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in five consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, scoring a run while going 1-for-3.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Kayla McSwain, who scored a run and stole Three bases. while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances. Anna Wooten was another key player, getting on base in two of her three plate appearances with three stolen bases.

Kings Mountain's victory was their fourth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 5-1. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.0 runs on average over those games. As for South Point, they now have a losing record of 2-3.
