Basketball Game Preview: Westside Patriots vs. Aquinas Fightin' Irish

The Westside Patriots will face off against the Aquinas Fightin' Irish at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. The two teams have had a bumpy ride up to this point with 32 consecutive losses dating back to last season for Westside and three for Aquinas.

Westside is headed into the match out to prove that what happened against Howard on Tuesday (when they were outscored in every quarter) was just a minor bump in the road. Westside had to suffer through a 58-22 loss at the hands of Howard. The Patriots were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 31-8.

Despite the loss, Westside had strong showings from Makayla Bridges, who posted six points, and Nevaeh Glover, who had six points.

Meanwhile, it's never fun to lose, and it's even less fun to lose 78-25, which was the final score in Aquinas' tilt against Baldwin on Tuesday. The contest marked the Fightin' Irish's lowest-scoring game so far this season.

Aquinas' defeat dropped their record down to 6-9. As for Westside, their loss dropped their record down to 0-13.

Westside was dealt a bruising 53-23 defeat at the hands of Aquinas in their previous meeting back in December of 2024. That match was all but decided by halftime, at which point Westside was down 29-6.
