Baseball Recap: Pontotoc Comes Up Short

Pontotoc lost against New Hope last Tuesday, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. Pontotoc fell just short of New Hope by a score of 4-3. That's two games in a row now that the Warriors have lost by just one run.

Pontotoc saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Malachi Witcher, who scored a run while going 1-for-4. Kentorious Morrow also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen base of the season.

This is the second loss in a row for Pontotoc and nudges their season record down to 11-4. Even worse, they were so close so many times: the losses came by an average of only one runs. As for New Hope, their victory was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 8-4.

Coming up, Pontotoc will take on South Pontotoc at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday. As for New Hope, they will square off against East Webster at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday.
