Baseball Game Preview: Chen Chargers vs. Mount Airy Christian Academy

The Chen Chargers will venture away from home to challenge Mount Airy Christian Academy at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday.

Chen couldn't beat Carroll Christian on Thursday even though they stacked four runs on them in the second inning. The Chargers fell just short of Carroll Christian by a score of 7-6. The Chargers have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Samuel Lee led a balanced group of hitters, going 1-for-2 with two RBI and one run. Those RBI were his first of the season. The team also got some help courtesy of Tanner Viernes, who went 1-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.

Meanwhile, Mount Airy Christian Academy hadn't done well against Rockbridge Academy recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Monday. Mount Airy Christian Academy came out on top against Rockbridge Academy by a score of 10-5.

Charlie Kichler was excellent, going 1-for-3 with three runs and one RBI. Luke Record was another key player, going 1-for-4 with two runs, one double, and one RBI.

Mount Airy Christian Academy's victory bumped their record up to 8-3-1. As for Chen, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-8.

Chen came out on top in a nail-biter against Mount Airy Christian Academy in their previous matchup back in May of 2017, sneaking past 2-0. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Chargers since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
