Basketball Recap: Arrupe Jesuit Falls Despite Big Games from Xavier Martinez and Louie Garcia

Arrupe Jesuit's tournament run continued when they took on Conifer on Friday. The Arrupe Jesuit Generals fell 57-48 to the Conifer Lobos. The match marked the Generals' lowest-scoring game so far this season.

Arrupe Jesuit's loss came despite strong showings from Louie Garcia and Xavier Martinez. Garcia posted 16 points and six rebounds, while Martinez dropped a double-double on 12 points and ten rebounds. Martinez is on a roll when it comes to boards, as he's now pulled down eight or more in the last four games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Mario Cabrera, who had seven points.

Conifer's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Isaac Pratt, who went 7 of 14 on his way to 18 points in addition to seven rebounds and six assists. Another player making a difference was Benson White, who went 6 of 8 on his way to 15 points and six rebounds.

This is the second loss in a row for Arrupe Jesuit and nudges their season record down to 4-2. As for Conifer, their victory bumped their record up to 7-2.

Arrupe Jesuit wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 53-48 win against Skyview on the 21st. As for Conifer, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 50-29 victory against Kennedy on the 21st.
