Basketball Recap: Riverside Takes Loss Despite Strong Performances from Colt Brooks and Jack Cupples

Riverside and Gibson County squared off in some playoff action on Saturday, but Riverside had to settle for second. They took a 67-63 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Gibson County Pioneers. The Panthers' loss signaled the end of their three-game winning streak.

Despite the defeat, Riverside had strong showings from Jack Cupples, who shot 56% from the field en route to 27 points and five rebounds, and Colt Brooks, who posted 13 points and five boards. Cupples' big performance that evening made it four games in a row in which he has scored at least 16 points. Another player making a difference was Matthew Wyatt, who had six points in addition to seven rebounds and three blocks.

Gibson County got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Kylan Finch out in front who put up 22 points. Isaiah Deberry was another key player, putting up 14 points.

Riverside's loss dropped their record down to 17-14. As for Gibson County, the win got them back to even at 16-16.

Riverside does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Gibson County has already played their next matchup (against Peabody), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
