Baseball Recap: Rushville-Industry Triumphs

While Rushville-Industry put up some runs on Wednesday, the same can't be said for Liberty. The Rockets sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 2-0 win over the Eagles. For the Rockets, this counts as revenge for the 9-8 victory the Eagles walked away with the last time they faced one another back in April of 2024.

Not much got past Macon Kessler, who gave up just three hits and racked up 14 Ks to keep Liberty off the board. Kessler also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Rushville-Industry is 4-2 when he allows at most one earned run, but 2-6 otherwise.

At the plate, Rushville-Industry saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Rylan Reimolds, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base and one run. Another was Bennett Fretueg, who got on base in two of his three plate appearances with one stolen base and one run.

Rushville-Industry's win ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 6-8. As for Liberty, they dropped their record down to 9-6 with the defeat, which was their fourth straight on the road.

Rushville-Industry has already played their next match, a 5-4 victory against Pittsfield on the 28th. As for Liberty, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next game, a 2-1 win against Mendon Unity on the 25th.
