Basketball Recap: Saint Stephen's Episcopal Comes Up Short

After flying high against The Classical Academy of Sarasota last Saturday, Saint Stephen's Episcopal came back down to earth. The Saint Stephen's Episcopal Falcons took a blow against the Cardinal Mooney Cougars on Tuesday, falling 78-34. While losing is never fun, the Falcons can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 684th, while the Cougars are ranked 106th).

Several Falcons players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Aymon Colten, who posted 11 points and five rebounds. What's more, Colten also racked up two blocks, the most he's had since back in November of 2024. Another player making a difference was Cameron Brewer, who put up eight points.

Sam Reindel was his usual excellent self, going 9 for 12 en route to 21 points and eight boards for Cardinal Mooney. Jayden Barnett was another key player, going 5 of 7 on his way to 12 points.

Saint Stephen's Episcopal's loss dropped their record down to 6-15. As for Cardinal Mooney, the win (which was their 18th in a row) raised their record to 19-1.

Saint Stephen's Episcopal has already played their next game, a 54-37 victory against Universal Academy on the 24th. As for Cardinal Mooney, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 74-36 win against Lakewood Ranch Preparatory Academy on the 23rd.
