St. Joseph is preparing for their first league matchup of the season on Friday. They will be playing in front of their home fans against the Holy Spirit Spartans at 4:00 p.m. St. Joseph is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.9 runs per game this season.

St. Joseph had been on a three-game streak of scoring at least ten runs, but Egg Harbor Township put an end to it on Thursday. The Wildcats came up short against the Eagles, falling 8-1. The matchup marked the Wildcats' lowest-scoring game so far this season.

St. Joseph saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Paul Spena, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base. Frank Somogy also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.

Meanwhile, Holy Spirit waltzed into their contest on Wednesday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They blew past the Chiefs 13-3. The result was nothing new for the Spartans, who have now won six matches by ten runs or more so far this season.

Holy Spirit pushed their record up to 8-1 with the win, which was their sixth straight at home dating back to last season. Those home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 13.7 runs over those games. As for St. Joseph, their loss ended a four-game streak of away wins and brought them to 4-3.
