Basketball Recap: St. Edward's Falls Despite Big Games from Cody Simmonds and Gary Anderson

St. Edward lost against Sebastian River back in November of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Saturday. The St. Edward's Pirates took a hard 65-51 fall against the Sebastian River Sharks. The Pirates' loss continues a trend for the squad, making it four in a row.

Despite the defeat, St. Edward's had strong showings from Gary Anderson, who went 6 for 9 en route to 13 points in addition to seven rebounds and seven blocks, and Cody Simmonds, who went 6 of 11 on his way to 18 points and eight boards. Simmonds' afternoon made it eight games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Wyatt Burdick, who posted nine points.

St. Edward's loss dropped their record down to 8-8. As for Sebastian River, they have been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 13-6 record this season.

St. Edward's has already played their next game (against Pineapple Cove Classical Academy), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. Sebastian River didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 64-58 win against Heritage on the 27th.
