Softball Recap: Riverside Now 6-1 over Last Seven Games

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Centennial, Riverside was happy to have turned things around on Wednesday. They never let the Austin Panthers get on the board and left with a 15-0 victory. Considering the Rangers have won 13 contests by more than six runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.

Danielle Cardenas was a major factor no matter where she played. She tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. What's more, she posted five strikeouts, the most she's had since back in February. She was even better at the plate, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, three runs, and three RBI.

In other batting news, Julie Muniz was a standout: she went a perfect 3-for-3 with two triples, four RBI, and two runs. That's the most triples she has posted since back in April of 2024. Another player making a difference was Cassandra Acosta, who went 2-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and one stolen base.

Riverside kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in eight consecutive games.

Riverside has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven matchups. That's provided a massive bump to their 14-12 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 15.0 runs over those games. As for Austin, their defeat was their sixth straight at home, which dropped their record down to 9-12.

Coincidentally, Riverside and Austin will both be playing Ysleta the next time they take the field. The Panthers will head out to face the Indians at 6:00 p.m. on Friday, while the Rangers will host them at 6:00 p.m. on Monday.
