Softball Recap: Hackleburg Takes a Loss

Hackleburg lost against Winfield back in April of 2024, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Saturday. The Panthers fell just short of the Pirates by a score of 9-7. That's two games in a row now that the Panthers have lost by exactly two runs.

Saylor Cooper made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 1-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. Another player making a difference was Payten Herron, who went 2-for-4 with one home run.

Hackleburg's defeat dropped their record down to 17-7. As for Winfield, the win (which was their 11th in a row) raised their record to 20-4.

Winfield has already played their next matchup, an 11-0 victory against Hamilton on the 5th. Hopefully Hackleburg payed attention to the Pirates' contest: the next time they hit the field, they'll take on the Pirates at 4:30 p.m. on Monday.
