Basketball Recap: Sierra Find Success

Sierra hadn't done well against Falcon recently (they were 0-9 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. The Sierra Stallions slipped by the Falcon Falcons 40-39. This was a revenge game for the Stallions: when they faced off against the Falcons last Saturday, they had to take a 51-24 defeat.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Sierra to victory, but perhaps none more so than Deja Burns, who posted seven points along with eight boards and seven blocks. Burns is crushing it when it comes to blocks: she's posted at least two every time she's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Shetara Roebuck, who went 6 of 10 on her way to 14 points and six steals.

Sierra was working as a unit and finished the game with 12 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Falcon only racked up six assists.

Despite the loss, Falcon had strong showings from Cobelyn Wiesner, who went 6 for 15 en route to 17 points and four steals, and Alexis Hunter, who earned four points in addition to eight rebounds and five steals. Rilyn Hatch was another key player, putting up three points and seven boards.

Sierra's win was their seventh straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 9-6. As for Falcon, their defeat was their first in the league, dropping their league record down to 4-1 and their overall record down to 9-6.

Coincidentally, the two teams will both be playing Sand Creek the next time they take the court. Falcon will host Sand Creek at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday, while Sierra will host them at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
