Baseball Recap: Blanchester Extends Winning Streak to Three

Blanchester entered their tilt with Georgetown on Friday with two consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with three. They blew past the G-Men 12-2. The result was nothing new for the Wildcats, who have now won three matches by ten runs or more so far this season.

Cole Mueller made a splash no matter where he played. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out eight over four innings pitched. Those eight strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with two stolen bases and three runs.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Sammy Roush, who went 2-for-3 with three RBI, one triple, and one run. That triple was his first of the season. Another player making a difference was Braxton Short, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.

Blanchester hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Georgetown struck out 11 times.

Blanchester's record is now 5-2. As for Georgetown, they dropped their record down to 1-5 with the defeat, which was their fourth straight on the road.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Blanchester will host Batavia at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Wildcats 2.6, the Bulldogs 3) so any runs scored will be well earned. As for Georgetown, they will challenge Felicity-Franklin at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
