Softball Recap: Delavan Beats El Paso-Gridley for Their Third Straight Victory

Delavan entered their tilt with El Paso-Gridley on Saturday with two consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with three. They walked away with a 3-0 win over the Titans. For the Panthers, this counts as revenge for the 5-1 victory the Titans walked away with the last time they faced one another back in April of 2024.

Lainey Klokkenga was a major factor no matter where she played. She didn't allow a single earned run while striking out 13 over seven innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in 11 consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in all three of her plate appearances with one home run.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Miley Harper, who went 2-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI.

The win got Delavan back to even at 7-7. As for El Paso-Gridley, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 3-10.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Delavan will square off against Tremont at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for El Paso-Gridley, they will challenge Manual at 4:30 p.m. on Monday.
