Baseball Recap: Ferris Saxons vs. Mt. Spokane Wildcats
Mt. Spokane hit Ferris with a six-run fifth inning on Friday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Saxons lost 16-5 to the Wildcats. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Wildcats this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 14-6 on Thursday.
Colton Smith made the most of his time in the batter's box despite the final result and got on base in three of his four plate appearances with one run and one double. Another player making a difference was Houston Smith, who went 2-for-3 with two RBI.
This is the second loss in a row for Ferris and nudges their season record down to 9-7. As for Mt. Spokane, the win was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 11-6.
We've got plenty of inter-district action coming up soon. Ferris is set to square off against their familiar foe Ridgeline at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Mt. Spokane will face off against rival Gonzaga Prep at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Wildcats 4, the Bullpups 3.1) so any runs scored will be well earned.
