Baseball Recap: South Atlanta Comes Up Short

South Atlanta lost against Salem last Tuesday, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. The Hornets lost 13-3 to the Seminoles. The Hornets have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Brandon Smith Jr and Khamari Browning stepped up to the plate in a big way. Smith Jr went 1-for-2 with four stolen bases, while Browning scored a run and stole four bases while getting on base in two of his three plate appearances. South Atlanta is 2-1 when Browning posts two or more stolen bases, but 5-7 otherwise. Dontavious Crowder was another key player, scoring a run and stealing three bases.

South Atlanta now has a losing record of 7-8. As for Salem, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five games. That's provided a nice bump to their 7-10 record this season.

South Atlanta will have a little extra prep time after the defeat as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Cristo Rey Atlanta at 5:30 p.m. on the 16th. As for Salem, they will face off against Glenvar at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
