Jack Britt hasn't had much luck against Pinecrest recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. The Buccaneers will host the Patriots at 7:00 p.m. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Jack Britt barely beat Hoke County the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Buccaneers blew past the Bucks 27-1 on Friday. The win was familiar territory for the Buccaneers, who have now won three matchups in a row.
Alex Jones made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. Jones was also big at the plate, getting on base in four of his six plate appearances with three runs, one triple, and one RBI. That triple was his first of the season.
In other batting news, Jack Britt got a massive performance out of Pierce Strickland, who went 4-for-5 with seven RBI, two runs, and two doubles. Those two doubles gave Strickland a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Aaron Daniels, who got on base in all four of his plate appearances with four runs, three RBI, and one triple.
Jack Britt always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .729. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Hoke County only posted an OBP of .300.
Meanwhile, Pinecrest never let their opponents score on Friday. They were the clear victors by an 11-0 margin over Richmond Senior. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest victory the Patriots have posted against the Raiders since May 12, 2022.
William Chopping was a major factor no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, keeping things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out eight over six innings pitched. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in four consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-5 with two RBI and one double.
In other batting news, Sam Cockman and Owen Todd did most of the damage at the plate: Cockman got on base in three of his four plate appearances with three runs and one RBI, while Todd went 2-for-3 with two runs and one RBI.
The win got Jack Britt back to even at 5-5. As for Pinecrest, their victory bumped their record up to 8-1.
