Recap: Canyon Cougars vs. Wagner Thunderbirds
The Canyon Cougars had already won four in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 34.8 points), and they went ahead and made it five on Friday. They walked away with a 14-7 victory over Wagner. The score was all tied up 7-7 at the break, but Canyon was the (much) better team in the second half.
Canyon's win was their third straight at home, bumping their overall record up to 7-3. As for Wagner, their loss dropped their record down to an identical 7-3.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Canyon will challenge Cedar Park at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Cedar Park is coming into the game hot, having won their last three games. As for Wagner, they will head out on the road to face off against A&M Consolidated at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. A&M Consolidated knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past five games -- so hopefully Wagner likes a good challenge.
