Baseball Recap: Mountain View Comes Up Short

Saturday just wasn't the day for Mountain View's offense. They took a 3-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Archbishop Riordan Crusaders on Saturday. The Spartans were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Crusaders apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in March of 2025.

Mountain View saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Preston Huang, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base.

Mountain View has also traveled a rocky road recently, having lost ten of their last 12 matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-19 record this season. As for Archbishop Riordan, their victory ended a nine-game drought at home and bumped them up to 7-18.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming contests. Mountain View will face off against Palo Alto at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Spartans' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Vikings have averaged an impressive 7.3 runs per game this season. As for Archbishop Riordan, they will challenge Sacred Heart Cathedral Preparatory at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Fighting Irish's pitching crew has only allowed 3.9 runs per game this season, so the Crusaders' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
