Basketball Recap: Somers Comes Up Short

Somers lost against Rockville back in January of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The Somers Spartans received a blow as they fell 54-36 to the Rockville Rams. The loss was the Spartans' first of the season.

Rockville's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Matt Bannon, who went 8 of 14 on his way to 17 points and eight rebounds. Bannon has been hot recently, having posted eight or more boards the last four times he's played. Darek Albert was another key player, putting up 13 points and five assists.

Having lost for the first time this season, Somers fell to 2-1. As for Rockville, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 6-2.

Somers will welcome Wheeler at 6:45 p.m. on Thursday. As for Rockville, they will challenge Ellington at 6:45 p.m. on Friday. Rockville is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 58.6 points per game this season.
