Basketball Recap: Monett Comes Up Short

Monett was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their fourth straight loss. They took a 54-46 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Mt. Vernon Mountaineers. While losing is never fun, the Cubs can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Missouri basketball rankings (they are ranked 350th, while the Mountaineers are ranked 107th).

Monett's defeat dropped their record down to 3-7. As for Mt. Vernon, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 6-3.

Monett will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Branson at 7:00 p.m. on January 20th. As for Mt. Vernon, they will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against Marshfield at 7:15 p.m.
