Baseball Recap: Lawndale's Victory on Tuesday Extends Winning Streak to Three

While Lawndale didn't have the best season last year (they finished 11-14), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past. They were the clear victor by a 14-3 margin over the Morningside Monarchs on Tuesday. The result was nothing new for the Cardinals, who have now won six matches by eight runs or more so far this season.

Issaiah Alvarado made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he struck out six batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit (and not a single walk). What's more, he gave up only zero walks, the fewest he's had since back in April of 2024. He was also solid in the batter's box, scoring three runs while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances. Those three runs gave him a new career-high.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Seth Alex Rodriguez, who went 3-for-5 with four RBI, two doubles, and one stolen base. The dominant performance gave him a new career-high in doubles. The team also got some help courtesy of Blake Maldonado, who scored two runs while going 3-for-3.

Lawndale always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .615. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Morningside only posted an OBP of .348.

The win (which was Lawndale's third in a row) raised their record to 8-2. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.0 run on average over those games. As for Morningside, they are on a six-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-7.

Lawndale will have a chance to go back-to-back against Morningside: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 3:15 p.m. on Thursday.
